The Type 55 uniform system was used during the 1955-1965 period and represents an early rank-era uniform style of the People's Republic of China. This naval aviation cadet version reflects the appearance of naval aviation officer-cadet summer dress, with cadet-specific shoulder boards and collar tabs used to show branch and cadet identity without officer rank.

The tunic uses a vintage-style serge fabric in a soft off-white tone. The fabric is structured, wrinkle-resistant, breathable for summer wear, and has a clean drape.
